A book has been recently published that should be owned by every Thaddeus Stevens admirer. It is The Mad Dreams of Thaddeus Stevens by Michael J. Barton. It is not a biography, rather it is tribute, telling why Thaddeus Stevens was such a visionary and how his vision changed the United States.
The book started with the writing of an epic poem by Barton that grew out out of his study of the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments to the Constitution, the so-called Reconstruction Amendments
